“DBT and The 12 Steps: An Integrative Approach to Addiction Recovery”
In this presentation, seek to explore the unique connection and compatibility between Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and the 12 Steps, originating from the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. We will explore the similarities in symptomology in client populations and explore how DBT can be beneficial to the newly sober client. We will assess how the 12 Steps can be integrated into DBT to provide a comprehensive modality, emphasizing skills and acceptance while facilitating change and growth. We will examine guiding 12 Step principles and determine the compatibility between living by spiritual principles and creating a life worth living.
