“Gaining Perspective Through the Mosaic Process”

Lunch Sponsored by: Addiction Campuses

Sherry Burkhard encountered brokenness early in life when at fifteen-years-old she was admitted to a hospital for anorexia and other mental health struggles. With a desire to see beauty come from her experience, she became a Registered Nurse in 1996 and focused her practice on the mental health field to help others with similar struggles. In her nursing career, Sherry has been charge nurse over psychiatric units and worked in outpatient community clinics. In 2016, she became a co-founder of the nonprofit Mosaics of Mercy and now serves as Executive Director. Sherry believes passionately in helping others connect to education, resources, and community to find a path toward healing from mental health struggles and addiction.

Mosaics of Mercy uses the hands-on experiential learning process of mosaic making to educate the community on mental health. In this session, participants will begin a mosaic heart while gaining a new perspective on the importance of resources for clients. The process will also provide a tangible framework of encouragement for the mental health professional to draw on in times where they find it difficult to see the beauty in the broken.
